Mr. Worth, along with his wife and family of four occupied the house at 241 West 11th Street until 1854 when he sold it to another in the banking industry, Daniel V. H. Bertholf. Similar to Worth, Bertholf started as a bank cashier, but by 1870, at 62 years old, he was a retired banker. Twelve years later he sold the house to his daughter, Charlotte Poillon. A year after, Charlotte was a widow. She remained in the house another five years before selling it.
